Enhancing Ship Performance Through Advanced Ship Vibration Analysis and Installation
ProductsIn the maritime industry, ensuring optimal vessel performance and longevity is paramount. At G&O Compensators we specialise in retrofit, installing compensators on ships that are already in operation. By engaging in direct dialogue with shipowners, we address potential vibration vessel issues that could compromise the vessel’s integrity and efficiency.
Identifying and Classifying Vibrations
Vibrations on vessels can pose significant risks to a ship’s structural health and operational stability. To accurately assess these risks, our company offers two distinct approaches:
- On-Site Assessment – Our expert technicians visit the vessel to conduct an in-depth engine vibration analysis.
- Remote Monitoring – We provide shipowners with specialized vibration loggers (vibloggers) to record data for ship vibration analysis remotely.
Through these methods, we meticulously map the ship’s vibrations, categorizing them as either vertical or horizontal, along with their associated frequencies. This classification enables us to determine the most effective solutions for mitigating vibration-related issues.

Tailored Solutions for Optimal Performance
Once the vibrations are analysed, we recommend customized compensator products, in collaboration with the main engine maker, naval architects and shipowner to resolve the identified challenges. Upon order confirmation, our technical team initiates detailed planning, which includes:
- Structural assessments
- Optimal placement of the compensator
- Signal and electrical specifications (voltage, current, and wiring requirements)
- Precise measurements
“Throughout the process, we maintain continuous communication with the ship’s technical team ensuring that every technical aspect is addressed, while our production team manufactures the necessary vibration vessel equipment.” – Morten Kjæmpe, Head of Service & Technical Support, G&O Compensators”
Seamless Installation and Calibration
Once the product is ready, we coordinate logistics for its delivery and schedule the arrival of our technicians on board. The installation process is a collaborative effort between our specialists and the ship’s crew, ensuring seamless equipment integration.
Following the installation, we conduct a seatrail test, where specialised measurement devices evaluate the vessel’s phase and order. These measurements allow us to fine-tune the compensator’s calibration, optimising its effectiveness and synchronization with the ship’s operational parameters.
“Through precise assessment, tailored recommendations, and expert installation, we deliver tangible improvements in vibration control. The result? Enhanced vessel stability, prolonged structural integrity, and improved overall performance. Our team takes immense pride in providing solutions that contribute to safer and more efficient maritime operations.” – Morten Kjæmpe, Head of Service & Technical Support, G&O Compensators.
